Paid-call firefighters accept any and all opportunities to learn new techniques and maintain the skills they already know. In this scenario, firefighters are attacking a structure blaze at a residence that was scheduled for demolition. The training continued late into the night ... but no one seemed to mind!

Over 20 men and women represent the Apple Valley paid-call system. They are tasked with supporting the career firefighters on a regular basis by working at least one 8-hour shift each month. They also respond to major incidents and special details. Many of the paid-call firefighters work their way up the "firefighter ladder" to career firefighter status.
