The problem with communication ... is the illusion that it has been accomplished. --George Bernard Shaw
Gloria Street might disagree with Mr. Shaw since communicating was a big part of her life for more than 25 years. Gloria began her career in communications as a dispatcher in the City of San Bernardino in 1982. Two years later she moved her talents to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department as a 9-1-1 dispatcher, where she stayed for more than 14 years. The Regional Fire Protection Authority (RFPA) hired Gloria in 1998 to serve as the Communications Program Manager at the Desert Communications Dispatch Center in Victorville.
During Gloria's tenure she sheparded many changes, improvements, policies and procedures that resulted in elevating the level of service to the agencies and communities Desert Com serves. Those communites include Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake, Dagget, Newberry Springs, Victorville and Yermo.
Recently, when Gloria decided it was time to pursue new career opportunities, the Board of Directors of the Fire District wanted to pay tribute to her for the many years of dedicated public service Gloria has contributed to the RFPA. The proclamation presented to Gloria by the Board praised her hard work, dedication, and career accomplishments. They also extended the warm wishes and regards of the communities, agencies and staff with whom she worked for so many years.
Thank you Gloria and congratulations on your new career.
