Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.

~~Abraham Lincoln

President Lincoln's words are tailor made for new Limited Term Firefighter Scotten Young. At the September Board Meeting of the Fire District, Scotten Young took the first step of what is sure to be a long and successful career in the fire service when he was formally promoted to Limited Term Fire Fighter.

While still in high school, Scotten resolved that he wanted a career in the fire service. He started out in the Fire Explorer program which is a part of the Learning for Life division of the Boy Scouts of America. After high school he took fire technology classes at Victor Valley Community College and was able to join the Fire District as a Paid Call Firefighter (PCF) in June 2006. In early 2008, he added Staff Assistant to his duties while he continued his education at Victor Valley College.

This past summer Scotten successfully passed the written and manipulative testing for Limited Term Firefighter and was hired to that position.

Congratulations Scotten!
