Firefighting -- equipment operation -- public speaking. Apple Valley Fire Explorers learn it all! The young men and women who are accepted into the program learn a variety of skills and techniques that will carry them through any career path they choose. Recently the Explorers attended a nighttime training session on the art of handling motor vehicle fires. This type of training teaches them to size-up an incident and work as a team to mitigate the problem. They also learn how to work various tools and equipment required on the job and which will keep them safe. Throughout the year, Explorers participate in a Firefighter's Muster, Academies, and specific training to hone not only their firefighter skills, but life skills too. This may include leadership training, public speaking, and decision making. Apple Valley Fire District is proud of these young men and women -- the future of our community!
