Another 16 residents completed the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) training and are ready to help the community during a disaster. These residents donated 24 hours of their time to learn skills necessary to help their families and neighbors during a time when it is needed most -- during a disaster. The class covered light search and rescue, triage, first aid, preparedness, psychology, organization, terrorism awareness and fire safety. The class then participated in a disaster simulation drill that allows them the opportunity to implement their new skills. Upon course completion, they are registered as State of California Disaster Service Workers accredited with the Town of Apple Valley Disaster Council. The most recent graduates join a group of over 100 Apple Valley residents who are already C.E.R.T.-trained. They are here and ready to help!
