'Tis the season for gift giving, and there is no better gift than one that will save a life. Here are a few gift ideas:
* CPR & First Aid Classes: Purchase the opportunity for a loved one to be trained and certified in CPR and/or First Aid. Classes are held monthly.
* First Aid Kits: Kits can be purchased at any drugstore, and every home and vehicle should have at least one.
* Disaster Supply Kits: This is a great time to start building a "survival" kit for the home. Begin with basic items, such as a flashlight, portable radio, batteries, water, and non-perishable food. Put all these items in a sturdy container, and later add sturdy shoes, eyeglasses, clothing, blankets, and copies of important documents. When the time comes to rely on the kit for survival, you will be thanked a hundred times over!
* Fire Extinguishers: Every home should have one on every floor (if a multi-story house) plus one near the fireplace and in the kitchen and garage. Get training on its proper use.
When you wish your family and friends a safe holiday this season, be sure your gifts reinforce that message.
