Got Santa? Students at many Apple Valley schools were treated to a visit with Santa Claus. The "big red one" rolled onto campuses on a fire engine with sirens blaring and lights aglow. Santa tries his best to greet each and every child and treat each one to a candy cane. The annual Santa Claus visits have become a tradition for our local schools and the Apple Valley Fire District.

Another community tradition is the annual Secret Santa event co-sponsored by Apple Valley Wal-Mart, Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company, and Apple Valley Fire District. Each year children are selected within the Apple Valley School District based on need, for an opportunity to participate. The students are able to select gifts to give to their family and/or friends. This event teaches children the importance of giving and an opportunity to understand the spirit of the holidays.

While many focus on charity events during the holidays, Apple Valley Fire District participates in many events throughout the year:

* Serving lunch at the monthly Apple Valley Senior Center general meetings;

* Station tours;

* Risk Watch fire safe program at local schools;

* Freedom Festival and Happy Trails Round-Up activities and first-aid stations;

* Halloween candy give-away;

* Bicycle Brigade (give-away); and many more.

Apple Valley Fire District is committed to supporting the community in a variety of ways.
