With each Spring, the High Desert experiences warming weather, wildflowers and THE WIND! It is more important than ever during this time of the year to reduce fire hazards around your property.
* Cut or mow tumbleweeds and other annual weeds and grass to a height of four-inches or lower.
* Remove tree trimmings completely.
* Stack firewood neatly away from the residence; this also applies to wood and lumber products of any kind.
* Tree or shrub branches shall not be permitted to grow around the chimney area and should be pruned to a minimum of ten-feet from this area.
* All dead vegetation and/or trees, whether standing or fallen, shall be completely removed.
* Any tree or shrub overhanging any public street shall be trimmed from the ground up a minimum of thirteen-and-a-half feet (13'6").
* All leaves and pine needles shall be cleaned from the roof area.
Permits to burn tumbleweeds and piled trimmings are available from the Fire District at a cost of $10 per year. For more information, call (760)247-7618 during regular business hours. Let's make our community fire-safe.
