Fire District personnel recently attended Honor Guard training to learn the etiquette of paying tribute at ceremonies and funerals honoring firefighters. The Honor Guard watches over, cares for, keeps vigilant watch and escorts fallen brothers and sisters with a strong sense of what is right while demonstrating high standards of conduct.
The group learned and practiced methods for the proper display, handling and movement of our National Color and proper use of Arms -- order, parade and ceremonial rest, port arms, present arms and shoulder arms. Casket watch, marching skills and flag etiquette were also addressed. Just as important, the group learned how to properly conduct an Honors Funeral and learned the basics of funeral protocols, rites and customs.
Apple Valley Fire District is now prepared to properly pay tribute to the men and women who served in the fire service.
